FAO Press Conference
World Rabies Day is September 28th. Rabies is fatal and mostly kills children. This very neglected disease is 95% spread by dogs, but is 100% preventable. Poverty, conflicts and natural disasters displace people and animals. They disrupt health and veterinary services and make it more difficult to manage dog populations and to vaccinate. Effective vaccines have been around for over a century. We also know that the key is to vaccinate dogs - so why do so many people and animals continue to die from rabies?
