The Global Action Plan for Influenza Vaccines (GAP) was launched in 2006 as a comprehensive strategy to reduce the present global shortage of influenza vaccines for seasonal epidemics and pandemic influenza in all countries of the world by: increasing seasonal vaccine use and vaccine production capacity and promoting R&D for better vaccines. The meeting will be followed by a press stakeout in Hall XIV, at 12:45 p.m., with U.N. Special Envoy for Syria, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, and his Special Advisor, Mr. Jan Egeland.
