The Global Action Plan for Influenza Vaccines (GAP) was launched in 2006 as a comprehensive strategy to reduce the present global shortage of influenza vaccines for seasonal epidemics and pandemic influenza in all countries of the world by: increasing seasonal vaccine use and vaccine production capacity and promoting R&D for better vaccines. GAP will end on Wednesday 16 November with numerous achievements but still a long way to go to ensure global protection in case of an influenza pandemic.
