NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SWEDEN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Anna Jardfelt, the new Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Jardfelt had been serving as Sweden’s Ambassador to Kenya, Seychelles and the Comoros since 2017, and concurrently served as the Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations Environment Programme and UN-Habitat in Nairobi.
She was Sweden’s Ambassador to the European Union’s Political and Security Committee in Brussels from 2014 to 2017. She was the Director of the Swedish Institute for International Affairs in Stockholm from 2010 to 2014. Ms. Jardfelt served as a Counsellor at the Swedish Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels from 2006 to 2010.
She was Head of Cabinet, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s High Commissioner on National Minorities in The Hague from 2001 to 2005. She also served as a desk officer at the Security Policy Department of the Swedish Foreign Ministry from 1998 to 2001. She worked with the European Parliament in Brussels in 1996 and 1997.
Ms. Jardfelt has a Master of Law in international public law, human rights and European Community Law.
