New Permanent Representative of Algeria Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Rachid Bladehane, the new Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Bladehane had been serving as Algeria’s Ambassador to Brazil since 2021.  Before this, he held the positions of Secretary of State in charge of the National Community and Skills Abroad (2020); Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2019–2020); Director General of the Ministry of Multilateral Relations (2017–2018); and Director General for Political Affairs and International Security (2015–2017). 

Mr. Bladehane served as Algeria’s Ambassador to Venezuela from 2008 to 2015, concurrently serving as non-resident Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Ecuador. He was Algeria’s Ambassador to Malaysia from 1998 to 2004, concurrently serving as non-resident Ambassador to Thailand and the Philippines.  Since 1985, he has held multiple positions in Algeria’s Central Administration, including as Director for International Economic and Financial Affairs (2004-2007); Director for Economic Affairs and International Finance (1997–1998); and Chief of Staff (1993–1994).

Mr. Bladehane has represented Algeria in many meetings and conferences of international and regional organizations.  He holds a diploma from the National School of Administration, Diplomatic Section. He is married with four children.
