NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF OMAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Idris bin Abdul Rahman bin Issa Al Khanjari, the new Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Al Khanjari had been serving as Minister Plenipotentiary at the Arab Maghreb Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman, since 2019. He was the Deputy Permanent Representative of the delegation of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Brussels from 2013 to 2019. From 2007 to 2013, he served as Deputy Chief of the European Union Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and from 2004 to 2007, he was the Director of the United Kingdom and Ireland office at the Ministry.
Mr. Al Khanjari served as Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Oman to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1998 to 2004. From 1996 to 1998, he transferred to the Economic and Technical Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from 1994 to 1996, he transferred to the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to deal with international Security Council matters. He served as Second Secretary at the Protocol Service Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1993 to 1994 and Deputy Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Oman in Brunei from 1990 to 1993. He was appointed to the European Department at the Ministry in 1986.
Mr. Al Khangari has a master’s degree in diplomacy from the University of Westminister in London, and a bachelor’s degree in geography from Beirut Arab University in Beirut. He was born on 2 July 1967 and is married with five children.
