NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ECUADOR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Guillaume Long, the new Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Long had been serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of Ecuador from March 2016 to March 2017. He served as Minister of Culture and Heritage of Ecuador from April 2015 to March 2016, and as Minister Coordinator of Knowledge and Human Talent from 2013 to 2015. He was the President of the Higher Education Quality Assurance, Evaluation and Certification Council from 2011 to 2013. He was also an Adviser to the National Secretary of Planning and Development from 2009 to 2011.

Mr. Long has taught international relations and history in several universities in Ecuador. He wrote editorials on international relations for the newspaper Diario El Telegrafo of Guayaquil from 2008 to 2013.

Mr. Long has a Ph.D. from the UCL Institute of the Americas, a Master’s degree in political science from the University of London, and a Bachelor’s degree in history from the School of Oriental and African Studies.
