NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ICELAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Presentation of Credentials
Hogni Kristjansson, the new Permanent Representative of Iceland to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Kristjansson had been serving as a Director General at the Directorate for External Trade and Economic Affairs at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland since 2012. He was Director for European Affairs at the Ministry from 2008 to 2012. He served at the Icelandic Mission to the European Union, first as Minister Counsellor from 2003 to 2005 and then as Deputy Head of Mission from 2005 to 2008. He also served at the Mission to the European Union from 1996 to 1999 as a Counsellor for Justice and Home Affairs.
Mr. Kristjansson started his career as a Deputy to the Police Commissioner of Kopavogur from 1991 to 1993, and then as a Head of Section at the Ministry of Justice from 1993 to 1996. He has a law degree from the University of Iceland (1991). He was born on 2 September 1965.
