NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF FRANCE PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Elisabeth Laurin, the new Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Laurin had been serving as Director for Asia and Oceania at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2012. She was Ambassador of France to the Republic of Korea from 2009 to 2012. She also served as Deputy Head of the Asia and Oceania Division at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs from 2005 to 2009.
A career diplomat, Ms. Laurin served as Director of the French Institute in Taipei from 2000 to 2005. She was Deputy Director of the Southeast Asia Direction, ASEAN and Asia-Europe Dialogue, Asia and Oceania Division at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs from 1996 to 2000. She also worked at the Economic and Financial Affairs Division and the European Cooperation Division at the Ministry from 1988 to 1996. She was a press adviser at the Embassy of France in Tokyo, Japan from 1985 to 1988, and at the Embassy of France in Khatmandou, Nepal from 1983 to 1985.
Ms. Laurin was born on 7 December 1952. She has a BA from the Institute for Oriental Studies and Languages (Japanese), and an MA from the same Institute (Chinese), and has carried out post graduate studies in economics.
