NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SINGAPORE PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO ACTING DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

The new Permanent Representative of Singapore to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Foo Kok Jwee, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Foo had been serving as Director-General of the Technical Cooperation Directorate in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 2011 to May 2014. He also served as Press Secretary to Senior Minister (and later Emeritus Senior Minister) Goh Chok Tong from December to 2010 to May 2014, and concurrently served as Director (Special Duties) in the Ministry of Communications and Information.

Mr. Foo joined the Foreign Service of Singapore in 1999. He served as Second Secretary, and subsequently as First Secretary and then Counsellor, in the Embassy of Singapore in Jakarta from 2002 to 2006. He has held various appointments in the Ministry’s Headquarters and has won several Ministry awards for distinction in political analysis.

The new Permanent Representative of Singapore graduated with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1999. He later earned a Master in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in 2007. He is married with twin daughters.
