NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF OMAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Abdulla Nasser Musallam Al-Rahbi, the new Permanent Representative of Oman to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Al-Rahbi was the Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising and Editor-in-Chief of the Oman Newspaper since 2005. In 2010, he also served as Chairman of Trustees of the Faculty of Al Bayan of Translation and Media Sciences. From 2003 to 2005, he was the Head of the Office of the Minister of Manpower, and from 2001 to 2003 he was the Cultural Attache at the Omani Embassy in Jordan. From 1990 to 2001, he worked at the Office of the Minister of Information, first as Director of “audit and follow up”, then as General Director and then as Head of the Minister’s Office.

At the beginning of his career, Mr. Al-Rahbi served as an officer in the Armed Forces of Oman in 1978, and then worked as a news correspondent and presenter of radio programmes at the Radio of the Sultanate of Oman from 1979 to 1990.

Mr. Al-Rahbi has a B.A. in social science, specialized in communication and media, from the University of Alexandria, Egypt (1988) and an M.A. from the University of Alexandria (1996). He is 49 years old and is married with five children.
