NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ISRAEL PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Eviatar Manor, the new Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Manor had been serving as Deputy Director-General and Head of the United Nations and International Organizations Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel since 2008. He served as Israel’s Ambassador to Sweden from 2004 to 2008. Other foreign posts and missions include serving as Head of Israel’s delegation to the United Nations Second Committee of the General Assembly in 1996; as Consul General of Israel in Philadelphia from 1993 to 1996; as Press Counselor at the Embassy of Israel in London from 1985 to 1989; and as First Secretary at the Embassy of Israel in Stockholm from 1977 to 1982.

A career diplomat, Mr. Manor joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel in 1973 as a cadet. He has held various posts at the Ministry in Jerusalem, including as Deputy Director-General and Acting Head of the Middle East and Peace Process Division from 2002 to 2003, Deputy Head of the Division and Director of the Bureau of the Senior Deputy Director-General from 1997 to 2002, and Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry and Director of the Press Department from 1992 to 1993.

Mr. Manor was born in Tel Aviv in 1949. He is married with two children.
