NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SEYCHELLES PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Vivianne Fock Tave, the new Permanent Representative of Seychelles to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Fock Tave had been serving as Ambassador of Seychelles to Belgium since March 2010, based in Brussels. Concurrently, she served as Head of Mission of Seychelles to the European Union, and Ambassador of Seychelles to Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Holy See, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and Hungary, and as Permanent Representative to the Food and Agriculture Organization. She was a Special Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Seychelles from 2007 to 2009.

A career diplomat, Ms. Fock Tave held a number of posts including as Principal Secretary of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (2006 to 2007), Principal Secretary of Economic Planning at the Ministry of Economic Planning and Employment (2005 to 2006), Director and then Director General of International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2000 to 2005), Senior Economist at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1998 to 2000), and Economist at the Ministry (1996 to 1998).

Ms. Fock Tave has represented Seychelles during negotiations on its accession to the World Trade Organization (2008 to 2009), and during talks on Seychelles’ Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union. She has a Bachelor and Master in Economics from the Technical University of Berlin in West Berlin (1992 to 1996). She was born on 14 April 1966 in Mahe, Seychelles. She is single.
