NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Presentation of Credentials
Azis Polozhani, the new Permanent Representative of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Polozhani had been serving as Director of the Republican Institute for Health Protection and as Professor in the State University of Tetovo’s Medical Faculty, both since 2008. Between 2002 and 2006 he was Minister of Education and Science.
Mr. Polozhani served as Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe between 1998 and 2002 and between 2006 and 2008 and was also a Member of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia’s Parliament in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
Born on 15 February 1957 Mr. Polozhani did his undergraduate studies at the University of Prishtina’s Faculty of Medicine and later specialized in internal surgery and vascular surgery at the University of Zagreb and in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University Hospital of Zurich. He is the author of books and scientific and professional articles in the fields of medicine, education and politics.
