NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF PAKISTAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Masood Khan, the new Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Khan had been serving as Director-General for UN Affairs and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan since 2004.

A career diplomat who joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1980, Mr. Khan has held a number of diplomatic assignments in Pakistani Embassies and Missions abroad, including as Counsellor in Washington D.C. from 1997 to 2003; First Secretary/Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in New York from 1993 to 1997; and Third Secretary in Beijing from 1982 to 1986. He served in The Hague from 1986 to 1989, first as Third Secretary, then as Second Secretary, then as First Secretary.

Mr. Khan also served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director from 1990 to 1993 and from 2002 to 2003.

Mr. Khan was born on 15 February 1951 and holds a Masters degree in English. He is married.
