International Day of Older Persons: Integrated Care for Older People – the path to Universal Health Coverage – what will it take?
Populations around the world are rapidly ageing and this demographic transition will impact on almost all aspects of society. However, unless resilient health and long-term-care systems are put in place, many of these ambitions cannot be achieved.
If we want to achieve Universal Health Coverage that is inclusive of older people, a transformation is needed in the way that health and social care is provided and organised . Integrated Care is the way forward. WHO will launch its Recommendations on Integrated Care for Older People.
