OHCHR Press Conference (Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar)

Press Conference Announcement
The Special Rapporteur presents his final report to the Human Rights Council
which, in the context of the ongoing democratic transition, looks at the serious situation in Rakhine State, the next steps needed to secure peace in the ethnic border areas, and the ongoing arrests of journalists and people protesting evictions and land confiscations in the face of large-scale development projects. He takes a look back at the six years he has spent on this mandate, reflecting on how far the country has progressed and how much further reforms still need to go.
Mr. Tomás Ojea QUINTANA, Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar
