New Permanent Representative of Thailand Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Usana Berananda, the new Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Berananda had been serving as Director-General of the Department of Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ Affairs, after serving as Deputy Director-General of the Department.  She also served as Director of the Political Security Division at the Department and Chief of the Policy Unit there. 

Ms. Berananda’s foreign postings include serving as Minister and Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the World Trade Organization.  She served as Minister Counsellor and Head of the Consular Section at the Royal Thai Embassy in Seoul, Republic of Korea.  She also served at the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Royal Thai Consulate General in Sydney, Australia.

Ms. Berananda has a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from the Australian National University, Australia (1992), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University, Thailand.
