NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MALAYSIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Ahmad Faisal bin Muhamad, the new Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Muhamad had been serving as Director-General of the Department of Policy Planning and Coordination at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia since October 2018. He served as Deputy Secretary-General (special tasks) at the Ministry from June to September 2018. From August 2014 to May 2018, he served as an International Affairs Advisor in the Prime Minister’s office.

A career diplomat since he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 1994, Mr. Muhamad served as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Myanmar from September 2011 to July 2014, and as Deputy High Commissioner at Malaysia’s High Commission in Singapore from December 2009 to August 2011. He has held various other posts at the Ministry.

Mr. Muhamad has a Master of Science and a Ph. D in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom. He was born on 24 May 1970 in Kelantan, Malaysia.
