NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SWAZILAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Thembayena Annastasia Dlamini, the new Permanent Representative of Swaziland to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Dlamini had been serving, since 1997, as Ambassador of Swaziland to the European Union, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland. From 1991 to 1996, she was Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1991, she was Senior Planning Industry Officer at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism.

From 1982 to 1984, Ms. Dlamini held the post of chief commercial officer at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry Mines and Tourism, prior to which, from 1979 to 1982, she was an economist at the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. She also worked at the National Industrial Development Corporation of Swaziland and has lectured at the University of Swaziland.

Ms. Dlamini holds a Ph.D. in economics from the State University of Albany, New York (1990). She also holds an MA in economics from Western Michigan University, Michigan (1978), and a BA in economics from the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland (1976),

Ms. Dlamini was born in Pigg’s Peak, Swaziland on 24 March 1952.
