CONFERENCE ON DISARMAMENT HOLDS BRIEF PUBLIC PLENARY, FOLLOWED BY INFORMAL MEETING TO DISCUSS PROGRAMME OF WORK FOR 2010 SESSION

The Conference on Disarmament this morning held a brief public plenary, during which Malta was invited to participate in the work of the Conference for its 2010 session as an Observer. Ambassador Abdul Hannan of Bangladesh, President of the Conference, announced that, following this public meeting, the Conference on Disarmament would hold an informal meeting to discuss developing a programme of work for the 2010 session of the Conference.
Mr. Hannan also announced that the next public plenary of the Conference would be held on Tuesday, 9 February, at 3 p.m., when the Deputy Foreign Minister of Italy, Vincenzo Scotti, is scheduled to address the Conference.
