When tomatoes met Wagner
A film by Marianna Economou
Sunday, 29 August at 11 a.m.
Cinérama Empire, 72 rue de Carouge, Geneva
In Elias, rural Greece, two cousins seek to revitalize their village and its 33 inhabitants by developing their organic tomato business. Using Wagner's compositions and traditional Greek music, Alexandros and Christos want to create an optimal environment for growing their organic tomatoes by playing music over speakers in the fields. It is a source of amusing anecdotes and a warm approach to the people of Elias, especially the elderly women who help prepare the tomatoes. It's a humorous, bittersweet film that reflects the triumphs and struggles of sustainable small businesses.
Organized to coincide with the City of Geneva's Festi'Terroir*, a large farmer's market that highlights local agriculture, organic production
and direct sales from producer to consumer. At parc des Bastions from 27-29 August.
