New Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

 

Yerlan Alimbayev, the new Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment in Geneva, Mr. Alimbayev had been serving as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2021. He was Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to India from 2019 to 2021. He served as Counsellor and Minister-Counsellor at Kazakhstan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 2010 to 2018. He served as Counsellor at the Embassy of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Korea from 2006 to 2008, and as Third and Second Secretary at Kazakhstan’s Embassy to India from 2000 to 2004.

Mr. Alimbayev has held a number of posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Ambassador-at-large of the Ministry and national coordinator for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2018 and 2019; Deputy Director of the Department of Asia and Africa from 2008 to 2010; Counsellor and Head of Section, Head of Division of the Department of Asia and Africa from 2004 to 2006; and Desk Officer, Attache, Third Secretary of the Department of Bilateral Cooperation from 1997 to 2000.

Mr. Alimbayev was born on 6 January 1975. He has degrees from the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations (2017) and Al-Farabi Kazakh State University (1996).
