NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR- GENERAL OF UNOG

Katerina Sequensova, the new Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the United Nations Office at Geneva, presented her credentials today to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Ms. Sequensova joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in 1999. Prior to her appointment in Geneva, Ms. Sequensova served as the Director at the United Nations Department. From 2007 to 2009 she was the Deputy Director in the Common Foreign and Security Policy Department in Prague. From 2005 to 2007 she was posted to Cairo as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Czech Republic to Egypt. Ms. Sequensova served as Head of Political Unit at the United Nations Department in Prague from 2003 to 2005. Between 2004 and 2005 she was an Election Observer for The Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Georgia, and for the European Union in the Palestinian Territories and Lebanon respectively. Ms. Sequensova was posted to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2002, where she worked as a Political Officer in the Office of the President of the 57th United Nations General Assembly. After graduating from the Diplomatic Academy in 2000, Ms. Sequensova took up her first position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic as a Desk Officer in the United Nations Department, a job she held until 2002.

Prior to commencing her diplomatic career, Ms. Sequensova worked at an international law firm in Washington DC, Hale and Dorr LLP, where she was an International Trade Assistant.

Ms. Sequensova has an M.A. in Economics and International Relations from the Prague School of Economics in the Czech Republic, a BSc in Economics from Strayer College in Washington DC and an M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University in Washington DC, United States. She speaks native Czech, English and Russian and has a working knowledge of German and French.
