New global study on childhood and adolescent obesity and underweight over past four decades
EMBARGO: Wednesday, 11 October - 00.30 Geneva time
Ahead of World Obesity Day (11 October), WHO and Imperial College London are releasing results of a joint major global study that reveals the trends in the increase of obesity among children and adolescents aged 5-19 years from 1975-2016, the factors driving this increase and projections. It also charts other forms of malnutrition, including underweight, and presents shifts in the number of children and adolescents being underweight and obese around the world.
