New Permanent Representative of Bangladesh Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Mohammad Sufiur Rahman, the new Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Rahman was Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and a number of countries in the South Pacific region from 2017 to 2022. He served as Ambassador to Myanmar from 2014 to 2017. He was Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka from 2012 to 2014.

Mr. Rahman served as Director General of Multilateral Economic Affairs at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2010 to 2012; Deputy High Commissioner at Bangladesh’s High Commission in Islamabad, Pakistan from 2008 to 2009; and Director General at the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation’s Secretariat in Kathmandu, Nepal from 2004 to 2007. He was a Counsellor at Bangladesh’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1999 to 2002.

Mr. Rahman holds a Master of Business Administration from the Institute of Business Administration, Dhaka University, Pakistan, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. He is married and has three children.
