New Permanent Representative of Honduras presents credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

 

Mario Alberto Fortín Midence, the new Permanent Representative of Honduras to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Fortín Midence had been serving as Ambassador of Honduras to Guatemala. During his career, Mr. Fortín Midence has also served as Ambassador of Honduras to Germany, concurrently to Austria and Poland; and Ambassador of Honduras to Taiwan Province of China. He has previously served as Permanent Representative of Honduras to the United Nations Office at Geneva.

A career diplomat, Mr. Fortín Midence has held various positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Honduras, including as Secretary of State, General Director of Foreign Policy, General Director of Consular Affairs, and General Director of Diplomatic Ceremonies. He has represented Honduras in various international and regional conferences and meetings. He is the recipient of various awards and has a number of publications.

Mr. Fortín Midence has a bachelor’s degree in legal and social sciences from the National Autonomous University of Honduras and a bachelor’s degree in social and public communication from the Metropolitan University of Honduras. He also carried out diplomacy studies at the Diplomatic Academy of Chile and has a master’s degree in strategic management from the Metropolitan University of Honduras. He was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on 9 January 1954. He is married and has four children.
