NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MONTENEGRO PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Slavica Milačić, the new Permanent Representative of Montenegro to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Milačić had been serving as the Chief Diplomatic Inspector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro since September 2019. She was the Head of the Permanent Mission of Montenegro to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the United Nations, and other international organizations in Vienna from March 2013 to February 2019. She was the Ambassador of Montenegro to Austria from April 2013 to July 2015, and non-resident Ambassador to Slovakia and Czech Republic during the same period.
A career diplomat, Ms. Milačić joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984. She was the State Secretary for European integration at the Ministry from January 2011 to January 2012. She was the Chief Political Adviser to the Prime Minister from March 2010 to January 2011 ; Permanent Representative of Montenegro to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons from November 2007 to November 2010 ; and Head of the Permanent Mission of Montenegro to the European Union from October 2006 to March 2010. She served as Minister for International Economic Relations and European Integration from January 2003 to February 2004.
Ms. Milačić has a degree from the Faculty of Economics in Podgorica and has participated in a number of specialist courses abroad. She was born on 27 January, 1961 in Podgorica, Montenegro.
