NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF PANAMA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Presentation of Credentials
Juan Alberto Castillero Correa, the new Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Castillero Correa worked as a lawyer, practicing public and private international law in relation to treaties and contracts, corporate law, maritime law, air law, privatization, and tenders. He had served as Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 2004 to 2009 and as a non-resident Ambassador to Qatar from 2008 to 2009. In 1996, Mr. Castillero Correa had been appointed as ad hoc and ad honorem Ambassador of Panama in Special Mission, where he served until 1999.
Mr. Castillero Correa was born in 1948 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the National Institute of Panama and a degree in law and political science from University of Panama. He had studied French Language and Civilization and private international law at the University of Geneva, speaks Spanish, French, and English, and is a member of the Panama Bar Association and the Maritime Law Association of Panama.
