NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF LUXEMBOURG PRESENTS REDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Pierre-Louis Lorenz, the new Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Lorenz served as Ambassador of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, as well as representing Luxembourg at the ICJ, ICC, ICTY, EUROPOL and EUROJUST. He served as Ambassador of Luxembourg to Denmark, concurrently serving as non-resident Ambassador to Sweden, Norway and Finland. He also served as Ambassador to the Czech Republic; Head of Government Protocol in Luxembourg; Ambassador to China, and concurrently Ambassador to Viet Nam and Mongolia; Deputy Permanent Representative of Luxembourg to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization; Deputy Director of the Political Affairs Department in Luxembourg; and Charge d’Affaires at the Luxembourg Embassy in Bonn, among others.

Mr. Lorenz was born in Luxembourg on 22 May 1956. He joined the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Relations in 1983. He has a degree in political science and international relations from the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva (1975-1979); a degree in European law from the Institute of European Studies in Brussels (1980-1982); and a degree in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science in London (1982-1983). He is married and has a daughter.
