NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THAILAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Sek Wannamethee, the new Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Wannamethee had been serving as Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand since 2013. From 2011 to 2012, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Thailand to the United Nations Office at Geneva. He also served at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1996 to 2000.

A career diplomat, Mr. Wannamethee joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991 and has held a number of different positions there. He served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Thailand in Washington D.C. from 2009 to 2011.

Mr. Wannamethee was born on 16 April 1964. He has a Bachelor of Science (economics) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, University of London, and a Master of Philosophy (economic history) from the same University. He is married with two daughters.
