NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF LITHUANIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Andrius Krivas, the new Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Krivas served as the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania since 2013. From 2010 and 2013, he served as Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and between 2008 to 2010 he held various positions in the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence, including those of the Director of the International Relations and Operations Department (2008), Undersecretary (2008-2009), and Advisor to the Ministry (2009-2010).

Mr. Krivas commenced his professional career in the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence in 1993, where he held several positions until 2001, when he joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Integration Division, Security Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served as Counsellor at the Embassy of Lithuania in the United States from 2003 to 2007, and as the Head of NATO Division in the Security Policy Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2008.

Born in Orenburg Region in the Russian Federation on 10 April, 1971, Mr. Krivas studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in Russia (1987 to 1992). He was awarded the Cross of Officer of the Order for Merits to Lithuania in 2003, the Bundeswehr Silver Cross of Honour (Germany) in 2001 and the Cavalier insignia of the French National Order of Merit (France) in 2012.
