NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GREECE PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Anna Korka, the new Permanent Representative of Greece to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Korka had been serving as Greece’s Ambassador to Tunis since April 2013. She served as the Director of the Diplomatic Cabinet of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Greece from July 2012 to April 2013. Other foreign posts include working as Greece’s Consul General in Munich, Germany from September 2005 to August 2009; at the Embassy of Greece in London, the United Kingdom from March 1998 to January 2001; and at the Embassy of Greece in Nicosia, Cyprus from December 1989 to July 1993.

Ms. Korka joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece in October 1986 and has held various posts at the Ministry, including at the Direction General for human resources and finances; for European affairs; for development and humanitarian aid; and for bilateral relations with a number of countries, among others.

Ms. Korka was born on 24 September 1960 in Athens, Greece. She has a degree in philosophy, Greek and French literature from the University of Athens (1981); a Master of Arts in history and European literature from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom (1984); a degree in history and archaeology from the University of Athens (1985); and a degree from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece (1986). She is married with two children.
