NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF BHUTAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Kinga Singye, the new Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Singye held a number of posts at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan, as Director-General of the Department of Bilateral Affairs since July 2014; Director of the Department of Bilateral Affairs from July 2013 to July 2014; and Director of the Department of Multilateral Affairs from March to June 2012. He worked at the Embassy of Bhutan to India as Minister Counsellor from 2008 to 2009, and as Deputy Chief of Mission from 2009 to 2012.

Mr. Singye served as Counsellor, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Bhutan to the United Nations in New York from April 2004 to December 2007. He also served as First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Bhutan to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1996 to 1999. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan in 1984 as a trainee officer. There, he worked as Attaché from 1985 to 1986, Assistant Director at the Policy and Planning Division from 1991 to 1996, and Deputy Director of the Division from 2003 to 2004. He also worked as Third Secretary at Bhutan’s Embassy to Kuwait from 1986 to 1990. From 2000 to 2003, he served as the Executive Director of the Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation.

Mr. Singye was born on 15 October 1961. He holds a Master’s degree in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston. He is married with two children.
