New permanent representative of San Marino presents credentials to Director-general of United Nations Office at Geneva
Marcello Beccari, the new Permanent Representative of San Marino to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Beccari had been serving as Head of the State Protocol of San Marino with the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary since 2007. He has also been serving as non-resident Ambassador of San Marino to Norway since 2000, a position he is still holding. In 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998 and 2000, Mr. Beccari worked, in conjunction with the United Nations General Assembly, at the Permanent Mission of San Marino to the United Nations in New York. He has also served as a member of San Marino delegations participating in a number of CSCE/OSCE summits between 1992 and 1996.
Mr. Beccari joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991. From 1989 to 1990, he worked as Head of the Cabinet of the Minister of Finance and Budget. In 1981, he joined the Guard of the Great and General Council until 1993 when, due to incompatibilities with his new professional career, he was forced to leave it. In 1991, he received the Medal of Military Seniority, and has also been awarded a number of other titles.
Mr. Beccari has a university degree in sociology (economic branch) obtained in 1989 and a post degree Master from the International Studies Centre of Osimo for access to a diplomatic career (1991). He was born in San Marino on 6 November 1962.
