NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF CAMBODIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Presentation of Credentials

Ney Samol, the new Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ney had been serving as Director of the Europe Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia since 2010. From 2005 to 2010, he was the Consul General at the Consulate General of Cambodia in Shanghai, China.

A career diplomat, Mr. Ney has also served as Deputy Director General of the General Department of the Southeast Asian Nations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia (2005); Deputy Director of the Asia 1 Department (2003 to 2005); Bureau Chief of the Asia and Pacific Department (2001 to 2003); and as an official at the Europe Department of the Ministry (2000 to 2003).

Mr. Ney has a Master of Social Sciences in Global Politics from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom (2005); a Senior Government Official’s degree in Diplomacy from the Royal School of Administration, Cambodia (1999); a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Faculty of Law and Economics, Cambodia (1999); and a degree as a Medical Doctor from the Faculty of Medicine, Cambodia (1997). Mr. Ney was born on 23 March 1978 in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. He has two children.
