NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MAURITIUS PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Israhyananda Dhalladoo, the new Permanent Representative of Mauritius to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Dhalladoo had been serving as Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauritius since 2011. He served as Chargé d’Affaires and then Deputy Permanent Representative at the Mauritius Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2006 to 2009. He also served there from 1990 to 1994, first as Second Secretary and then as Deputy Permanent Representative.

A career diplomat, Mr. Dhalladoo joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1987, after working as a teacher from 1978 to 1982.
Mr. Dhalladoo served at the Mauritius Embassy in Washington as Deputy Chief of Mission from 1994 to 1997. He also served at the Mauritius Embassy in Berlin from 2000 to 2008, first as Charge d’Affaires and then as Deputy Chief of Mission. Mr. Dhalladoo has represented Mauritius in numerous regional and international conferences and summits during his career.

Mr. Dhalladoo has a B.A. in English from Delhi University (1980) and has attended training courses on disarmament, the United Nations and diplomacy. He is married with three children.
