NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF INDONESIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Mr. Triyono Wibowo, the new Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Wibowo served as Ambassador to Vienna from 2006 to 2008, having previously worked as an Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs for Administrative and Management Affairs and before that as Secretary for the Directorate General for European and American Affairs and Head of the Personnel Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2002 and 2004.

A career diplomat, Mr. Triyono Wibowo joined the Foreign Service in 1980. He then served as a Desk Officer for Northern European Affairs of the Department from 1982 to 1984 and was assigned as a political officer at the Indonesian Permanent Mission in Vienna and Alternate Governor for Indonesia at the IAEA from 1984 to 1988. He then became a Deputy Director for Multilateral Economic Cooperation from 1988 to 1991 and posted to the Indonesian Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 1991 to 1996. Following this, he was entrusted with the, position of Deputy Director for Economic Cooperation among Developing Countries from 1996 to 1999 and later served as Minister Counsellor at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C. from 1999 to 2002.

Mr. Wibowo graduated from the Faculty of Law within the University of Airlangga in East Java in 1979. He was born on 14 June 1952 and is married.
