NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF FINLAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Paivi Kairamo-Hella, the new Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Kairamo-Hella had been serving as Secretary General and Chief of the Cabinet of the President of Finland from March 2009 to March 2012. She also served at the Cabinet of the President as a Diplomatic Adviser from March 2005 to February 2009. She served as Administrator of the Directorate General for Employment and Social Affairs at the European Commission from June 2000 to February 2005. She was a Counsellor at Finland’s Permanent Representation to the European Union from October 1998 to May 2000.

Ms. Kairamo-Hella served as a Councellor at the Committee for Social Affairs and Health of the Finnish Parliament from October 1997 to June 1998. She was a Commercial Counsellor at the Secretariat for European Union Affairs of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from November 1995 to September 1997 and from July 1998 to September 1998. She started her career at the Ministry of Labour of Finland where she worked from March 1991 to November 1995.

Ms. Kairamo-Hella has a Master of Laws from the University of Helsinki (1990). She was born on 10 April, 1964 in Kauniainen, Finland, and is married with a child.
