NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF TURKMENISTAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Esen Aydogdyev, the new Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Aydogdyev had been serving since 2008 as Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Switzerland, while residing in Vienna, Austria. From 2006 until 2011, he served as Ambassador to Austria, also serving as Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Office at Vienna, Head of the Delegation of Turkmenistan to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization.

A career diplomat, Mr. Aydogdyev served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 1997 to 2005. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in 1992.

Mr. Aydogdyev has degrees in English Philology from the Turkmen State University (1987 to 1992); Law from the Turkmen State University (1992 to 1996); and Public Administration from the Monterrey Institute of International Studies in the United States (1992 to 1993). He was born on 9 July 1970 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. He is married.
