NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SINGAPORE PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Tan Yee Woan, the new Permanent Representative of Singapore to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Tan had been serving as Singapore’s Ambassador to Cambodia since 2007. She was Deputy Permanent Representative of Singapore to the United Nations in New York from 2000 to 2003. Her first overseas posting was as the First Secretary of Singapore to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1992 to 1995.
A career diplomat, Ms. Tan joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989 and was Country Officer for Western Europe and Economic Policy in the Policy, Planning and Analysis Directorate II until she went to New York in 1992. She has held other positions at the Ministry during her career, including Director of the International Organizations Directorate in the Ministry from 2003 to 2007.
Ms. Tan has a Bachelor of Social Science from the National University of Singapore (1986); and a Master in Politics of World Economy from the University of London, London School of Economics and Political Science, United Kingdom. She was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 1999.
