NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF UNITED ARAB EMIRATES PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Presentation of Credentials
Obaid Salem Saeed Nasser Al Zaabi, the new Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, since 1986, Mr. Al Zaabi has been serving as Director of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. Since 2005, he has also been an honorary member of the Swiss Business Council. In 1997, Mr. Al Zaabi was appointed Vice-President of the Administrative Council of the United Arab Emirates Red Crescent Society, a post he held until 2005.
A career diplomat, Mr. Al Zaabi started working at the Foreign Ministry in 1975. In 1983, he was posted to his Government's Embassy in Bonn, Germany. In 1982, Mr. Al Zaabi was promoted to Minister Plenipotentiary, and from 1983 to 1986, he held the post of Ambassador to Sudan.
Mr. Al Zaabi received his bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of Baghdad in 1975.
Born in 1952 in Ras al-Khaimah, Mr. Al Zaabi is married with three children.
