NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF JAPAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Ichiro Fujisaki, the new Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Fujisaki had been serving as Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs since 2002. He has served in Japan's embassies in Jakarta, Paris, London and Washington.

A career diplomat who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1969, Mr. Fujisaki has held a number of posts at the Foreign Ministry, including Director-General of the North American Affairs Bureau in 1999; and Deputy Director-General of the Asian Affairs Bureau in 1994.

Mr. Fujisaki was born on 10 July 1947. He is married.
