YAS24

The Young Activists Summit seeks to empower young change-makers advancing sustainability or human rights, and helps them achieve concrete results through visibility, networking, training, and fundraising. Every year, the Summit honours a lineup of young activists from all around the world and their outstanding achievements.

At a time when wars, climate change, biodiversity loss, and human rights violations seem impossible to solve, this year #YAS24 will showcase five inspiring individuals, aged between 19 and 30, whose impactful actions are shaping communities around the globe:

  • Marley Dias, 19, USA – Black representation in the media

  • Sohanur Rahman, 27, Bangladesh – Democracy & Climate action

  • Shanley Clémot McLaren, 25, France - Cybersexism

  • Alvaro Quiroz, 25, Mexico – Helping the homeless

  • Cynthia Houniuhi, 30, Solomon Islands – Climate change & human rights

Drawing from the African proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”, this year’s edition, carrying the theme “Go Far, Go Together”, celebrates the power of collective action.

#YAS24 will be streamed live in Bengali, English, Spanish, and French.

The Summit can be watched online on YAS website and UN Webcast in English, Arabic, French, and Spanish.

The Summit is organized by the United Nations Office at Geneva, the NGO dev.tv, Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS), and the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies.
