Evidence tells us that wherever women take part in a peace process, peace lasts longer. Particularly, when women are involved in a peace agreement, this is 35 percent more likely to last at least 15 years.
In the current security and political climate it is more important than ever to recognize that without women there can be no lasting peace. From Afghanistan to Colombia, from Cyprus to South Sudan, these compelling images of local woman peace-builders and UN peacekeepers, will serve as a reminder of the powerful but often shunned voices of women in peace efforts.
Marking International Women's Day on 8th March 2024, a special Inside Out Activation titled “Peace Begins with Her” will celebrate the role of women building and protecting peace around the world.
Join us on 8th March, from 11:15 a.m. to 18:15 p.m. at the Uni Mail, University of Geneva, to celebrate the role of women building and protecting peace around the world and add your own voice to the global push for women's participation by having your portrait taken and added to the collection of over 50 large portraits of women peace mediators, activists and peacekeepers.
See Media Advisory for more details about the event.
