WHO explains key issues facing the 2015 World Health Assembly - from Ebola to WHO reform.
A WHO expert will be available to explain the key issues ahead of the World Health Assembly, being held in Geneva on May 18-26. This year’s assembly is particularly important as Member States will reflect on the global response to Ebola, and debate which changes will be adopted in the world’s approach to addressing similar emerging disease threats. It will also address important global health policy issues, such as WHO reform, antimicrobial resistance, and noncommunicable diseases.
The World Health Assembly is the annual meeting of WHO’s 194 Member States and is its highest decision-making body. It sets out the Organization’s policy and approves its budget.
Ian Smith, Executive Director of the Director-General's Office at WHO

A new report by the World Health Organization (WHO) will be published on 29 April capturing countries’ own assessments of their response to the threat of antimicrobial resistance, including antibiotic resistance. Antimicrobial resistance has been detected in all parts of the world. It threatens the effective prevention and treatment of infections caused by bacteria (e.g. gonorrhoea), parasites (e.g. malaria), viruses (e.g. HIV), and fungi (e.g. Candida).
