New Permanent Representative of Jordan Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Akram Sa’ud Harahsheh, the new Permanent Representative of Jordan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Harahsheh had been serving as Director at the International Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan since July 2022. Concurrently, he served as Special Coordinator with responsibilities for Syrian, Libyan and Yemeni affairs, as well as the Global Coalition against Daesh files from July 2022 to January 2024.
Mr. Harahsheh was posted at the Jordanian Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva from February 2017 to June 2021, serving first as Counsellor, then as chargè d’affaires a.i. and finally as Deputy Permanent Representative. He has served at Jordanian Embassies to France from September 2011 to February 2016, and the Netherlands from September 2006 to August 2010. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Amman in April 2004. He started his work as a lawyer, advocate and counsel in the private sector.
Mr. Harahsheh was born on 1 March 1977 in Idun, Jordan. He has a diploma in diplomatic studies from the Jordan Institute of Diplomacy in Amman, Jordan (2005), a Master of Laws in international European and Business Law from the University of Leeds, England (2003) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan (2000). He is married with three children.
