NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SWITZERLAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Presentation of Credentials
Valentin Zellweger, the new Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to assuming his position in Geneva, Mr. Zellweger held the position of Deputy Director and then Director of the International Public Law Directorate at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs since 2007. Between 2003 and 2007, Mr. Zellweger served as the Chief of Cabinet of the first President of the International Criminal Court.
After joining the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1991, Mr. Zellweger served at the Swiss Embassy in Kenya starting 1993 and at the Swiss Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York starting 1999.
Mr. Zellweger holds a Ph.D. in law from the University of Basel. Born in Basel in 1962, he is married and has two children.
