NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF BELARUS PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Yury Ambrazevich, the new Permanent Representative of Belarus to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ambrazevich had been serving as Director General for Multilateral Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus since 2012, and concurrently serving as Secretary General of the National Commission of Belarus for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization since 2013. In 2012, he also served as Head of the Department of International Organizations at the Ministry from March to June. From 2007 to 2012, he was Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Belarus to Belgium, concurrently serving as Deputy Head of the Mission of Belarus to the European Communities and Deputy Head of the Mission of Belarus to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
Mr. Ambrazevich joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus in 1997, working in the Law and Treaties Department until 2000. From 2001 to 2003, he was First Secretary and Chargé d’affairs a.i. in Luxembourg and at the Embassy of Belarus to Belgium. From 2004 to 2005, he was Head of the Secretariat of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and from 2006 to 2007, he was Deputy Head of the Documentation and Control Department at the Ministry.
Born on 25 February 1975, Mr. Ambrazevich has a degree from the Faculty of Law, Belarusian State University in Minsk (1997). He is married with two children.
