NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SAUDI ARABIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS

Faisal bin Hassan Trad, the new Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Trad had been serving as Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Belgium and Luxembourg and Head of the Saudi Mission to the European Union, the European Council and the European Commission. He was Saudi Arabia’s
Ambassador to India from 2009 to 2011, to Japan from 2004 to 2008, and to the Arab League in Cairo from 2001 to 2004.

Mr. Trad joined the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978. He served as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia to Great Britain from 1983 to 1986, and as First Secretary at the Embassy of Saudi Arabia to Belgium from 1986 to 1990. From 1990 to 1998, he was the Head of the Directorate General of Bilateral Economic Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, and was the Head of the Directorate General of Multilateral Relations at the Ministry from 1998 to 2001.

Mr. Trad has a Bachelor’s degree in economics from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He was born on 12 February, 1956 in Medina, Saudi Arabia. He is married with five children.
